Personal
Mike is a life-long resident of
Lubbock, Texas. He attended public
schools and graduated from Monterey High
School. After serving in the U.S. Army,
Mike attended Texas Tech and graduated
in 1966. He then used his G.I. Bill
benefits and Veterans’ Disability
payments to attend Baylor Law School in
Waco, Texas. He was awarded a Juris
Doctor in 1968.
Mike is married to Susan Jones Millsap
and they have raised two children, Trigg
Bowlin and Alexis Bowlin Pate. Mike and
Susan are now grandparents of three
girls and a boy. Photos are available

Professional
After law school, Mike returned to
Lubbock and worked for several years as
an A.D.A. and felony prosecutor for the
Lubbock District Attorney. He then
worked as an associate attorney for the
law firm of Huff & Bowers, and later for
Bob Huff's firm. Mike became a sole
practitioner in 1976, and remains a sole
practitioner today. He has had a
Martindale Hubbell rating of AV for 35
consecutive years. That is the highest
rating for professional ability and
ethics. It is awarded by other lawyers
and judges.
Mike is licensed to practice in the
State of Texas and in the U.S. District
Courts of the State of Texas. He is also
licensed to appear before the 5th
Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans
and before the United States Supreme
Court.
He has enjoyed membership in the
American Bar Association, the Texas Bar
Association, the American Trial Lawyers
Association, the Texas Trial Lawyers
Association, the Lubbock County Bar
Association, the South Plains Trial
Lawyers Association, and the College of
the State Bar.
